From Bhagavadgita to Vishnu Gita: A Guide to Righteous Living and Healthy Breathing

“This Shwasa book, authored by Dr. Vishnun Rao, is a valuable resource that deserves a place in every home. Along with his medical expertise in respiratory health, he has enriched this work with his vast personal and clinical experience. In my view, if the Bhagavadgita is the finest guide to righteous living, then this Vishnu Gita is an exceptional guide to healthy breathing and respiratory well-being,” said Dr. L.V. Gangadhara Sastry, Gita singer, preacher and propagator, and founder chairman of Bhagavadgita Foundation, during the book launch of “Shwasa” on 17 July 2026. The book was authored by Dr. Vishnun Rao, founder of Shwasa Hospital and Shwasa Foundation Trust, and a renowned pulmonologist.

Dr. Gangadhara Sastry remarked that he had personally witnessed how Dr. Vishnun Rao not only educates people about preventive measures to avoid illness but also treats patients with exceptional compassion and warmth after they fall ill. He praised Dr. Vishnun Rao for earning widespread respect among those suffering from respiratory diseases as a Vaidya Narayana—a physician regarded as a divine benefactor—and as a selfless Karma Yogi dedicated to the welfare of society.

Dr. Gangadhara Sastry emphasized that every individual should establish a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. He observed that many young people today sleep at irregular hours, wake up at irregular times, and eat without any routine, living in ways that are contrary to nature and thereby becoming vulnerable to numerous diseases. He also pointed out that many people spend their entire day without even seeing the Sun, the very source of health and vitality.

He stated that there is no greater immunity than Dharma. Referring to the Bhagavadgita verse beginning with “Yuktāhāra-vihārasya…”, he explained that Lord Sri Krishna taught thousands of years ago that one must maintain moderation and balance in food, recreation, sleep, and wakefulness.

“The medical profession is not meant for earning wealth, but for experiencing the joy reflected in the grateful eyes of patients. I am proud to call Dr. Vishnun Rao my friend—a true physician who firmly believes that awareness and prevention are far superior to treatment,” Dr. Gangadhara Sastry said.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, admired by Telugu people for his selfless commitment to public welfare and his efforts to promote language and culture; Shri Varaprasad Reddy, who made the Hepatitis B vaccine accessible to the common people at an affordable cost and has rendered distinguished service to language and culture; Shri M.V.R. Sastry, a devoted worshipper of Lord Hanuman, scholar and renowned journalist; and Shri K.S. Rama Rao, a distinguished film producer known for films of exceptional quality and refined taste.
