Murali Mohan Celebrates 61st Wedding Anniversary with Students at Devnar School

Renowned actor and Padma Shri awardee Sri M. Murali Mohan chose to spend his 61st wedding anniversary, on 19.06.2026, at the Devnar School for Blind Students in Hyderabad. Dr. L.V. Gangadhara Sastry, Gita singer, preacher and propagator, and founder chairman of Bhagavadgita Foundation, attended the program as a distinguished guest.

The visually impaired students impressed the gathering by demonstrating several computer-based and scientific projects, showcasing their remarkable abilities, confidence and determination. Appreciating their accomplishments, Dr. Gangadhara Sastry said that the students were viewing the world through the “eye of knowledge”, pursuing lofty goals and moving forward like Karma Yogis with concentration and determination.

Dr. Sastry expressed immense happiness on seeing the Braille edition of the book “A Brief Introduction to the Bhagavadgita”, which he had authored along with Dr. R.V.S.S. Avadhanulu, being available at the school. He said that introducing children to the great Indian epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata helps develop moral values, inner strength, emotional resilience and the qualities of a Sthitaprajna—one who remains steady even in the face of great sorrow—while also inspiring them to set higher goals in life.

On the occasion, the students recited the Purushottama Prapti Yoga chapter of the Bhagavadgita in the presence of Dr. Gangadhara Sastry and received his appreciation and blessings. Dr. Sastry also rendered selected verses from the Bhagavadgita and explained their practical relevance and application in daily life.

Reflecting on the spiritual strength of the visually impaired, Dr. Sastry observed that while those with physical sight may need to close their eyes and enter meditation with a concentrated mind to experience the Self, those without physical sight need no such effort. He described them as Karma Yogis who remain in a continuous state of inner awareness.

Dr. Sastry congratulated Padma Shri Sai Baba Goud and Smt. Jyothi, the dedicated administrators of Devnar, for their extraordinary service over the past three decades in providing training and opportunities to thousands of visually impaired students and helping them secure employment in reputed institutions.

Presenting copies of the Bhagavadgita to the institution’s administrators, Dr. Sastry conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. He said that it is the responsibility of governments not only to recognize such dedicated servants of society with honors such as the Padma Shri, but also to provide sustained support for their service.

Dr. Sastry also expressed his admiration for the humanitarian work being carried out at Devnar and called upon people to visit and support the institution. In appreciation of the service rendered by Sri Murali Mohan, he presented him with a copy of the Bhagavadgita and conveyed his wedding anniversary wishes. He remarked that had Sri Murali Mohan not invited him to participate in such a meaningful program, he would have considered the day wasted.

Dr. Sastry also rendered a special devotional composition appreciating the service of Dr. Sai Baba Goud and the Devnar institution, praising their efforts to bring light, knowledge and dignity into the lives of those without physical sight.

The program was attended by Sri A. Prabhu, CEO of Suman TV, along with Sri B.S. Rao, Sri Vivek Narasimham and others. Following the program, Sri Murali Mohan and Dr. L.V. Gangadhara Sastry personally served meals to the students, adding a warm and meaningful conclusion to the gathering.
